Proposed Bylaws Amendments for SEA

The SEA Bylaws Committee, led by Dr. Michael Sandison, SEA Immediate Past-President and Chairperson of the Bylaws Committee has developed suggested amendments to the SEA Bylaws.

In addition, below is a summary of the proposed amendments and justification by the Bylaws Committee.

Article III – Membership

  • Adjusted criteria of “associate membership” for non-physicians and provided a method for associate members to become “active members”.

Justification: These amendments provide clarification on associate membership criteria and allows for associate members that have contributed to the Society the ability to become an active member.

Article IV – Officers

  • Adjusted criteria to become an Officer or Committee Chair.

Justification: These amendments provide clarification on who may become an Officer or Committee Chair in SEA. Associate Members can only serve in a leadership position once they have become an Active Member.

Voting Procedure

These proposed Bylaws amendments are being presented to the SEA membership for a vote at the Fall Business Meeting to be held on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at the Swissotel Chicago in Chicago, Illinois.
