Curriculum in Anesthesia Education

The Society for Education in Anesthesia (SEA) is requesting abstract submissions for presentation (April 4-6, 2025) at the SEA 2025 Spring Annual Meeting. Abstracts submitted to the Curriculum in Anesthesia Education category should detail a curriculum project that has been implemented and completed as well as information regarding its effect.

Your abstract should include the following:

  • Introduction: (description of problem or need and its importance and relevance, background on existing literature, theory or practice, identification of target audience or stakeholders)
  • Curriculum Details: (curriculum design including instructional strategies, description of its development, people involved in developing, teaching and assessing, assessing, program and learner evaluation materials and methods)
  • Results: (description of outcomes, assessment or analytical methods, summarize your findings in the text and include tables and graphs if applicable)
  • Discussion: (summary of what was learned and a discussion of its relevance as it relates to the learning gap, future directions)

The entire abstract is limited to 400 words

Abstracts pertaining to education are sought in areas such as (but are not limited to):

  • Medical Student education
  • Resident and Fellow education
  • Faculty and Clinician continuing education
  • Faculty evaluation, development
  • Technologic advancements
  • ACGME core competencies
  • ACGME Milestones

The Committee on Research in Education requests that abstracts be received by December 8, 2024 at 11:59 pm (Central Time) so that constructive suggestions may be sent back to the abstract submitter. The Committee expects to notify authors of acceptance/denial in Mid-January 2025.

Presentation Format

The highest-rated abstracts will be selected for oral presentations in general session and the top scoring abstract will receive the Philip Liu Award for Innovation in Anesthesia Education – Innovation in Curriculum.

Meeting Registration Fee

All abstract presenters are expected to pay the full SEA registration fee, according to their appropriate registration level (member, non-members, resident, etc.). No discounts will be provided.
